Julia Mitchell, Director of Communications at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, has worked with three independent study students to help create social media content for the school this year. Two students create daily content for social media and the third is creates sports video content. All three are responsible for uploading their content to Class Intercom to then be shared with the school community. They must consider what should be shared with the community and are learning firsthand the impact of public communications on social media.
Additionally, a recent student initiative has led to a revamping of how school announcements are made. Students now create a weekly podcast with the week’s announcements. Students are also responsible for creating social media posts highlighting activities and events. Julia works with the student group to share this content with the community on social media through Class Intercom. Her efforts allow school communications to run more smoothly.
